L'azienda:
The southern area of Tuscany is called Maremma, and
this is where the popular Morellino di Scansano DOCG
is made. The production area is rather restricted, so
there are only about 30 producers of this wine.
Leonardo is one of the smaller producers with 6 hectares
of vineyards and a production of only 27.000 bottles
DOCG wines last year. The first production year was 2001
and now, only a couple of years later, his wine is nearly
sold out before it is bottled!

Leonardo's grandfather
(the man in the middle on picture above) bought the
piece of land back in the '50s and the first vines were
planted a few years later. There weren't any roads at
the time, and it was a venture to make these lands feed
the family.
Now, the family house rooms the 3 generations that work
together to keep the legacy and create a beutiful little
wine estate. In fact, a new cellar is momentarily being
built and new vines have been planted to eventually
add an IGT wine. |
